
Motorcyclist injured in I-84 crash dies MORGAN — A 46-year-old Uintah man who was critically injured Monday after crashing his motorcycle in Morgan County has died.Carl Herman Mason was pronounced dead at Ogden Regional Medical Center from injuries sustained to his head and chest after he was tossed from his bike. Mason lost control of the motorcycle while heading westbound on Interstate 84 near mile post 93 around 6:22 p.m. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Mason was reportedly traveling in the right lane when traffic slowed suddenly, causing him to swerve into the left lane to miss hitting the cars ahead. He then locked up his brakes and the motorcycle slid off the left shoulder.Holiday traffic along the stretch was heavier than normal and construction in the area is also believed to have contributed to the sudden slow-down along that stretch of I-84.Mason was thrown off the bike and made contact with the ground several times. An investigation into the crash revealed speed was likely a factor.
